Academia Resource Management was established to link the resources of its members with those of government and industry. ARM's mission is to provide a collaborative mechanism to effectively and economically plan and administer research and training endeavors mutually beneficial to academia, government, and industry. In carrying out our mission we have focused our efforts on developing programs which sponsor the participation of students, recent graduates, and faculty in the technical endeavors of government and industry. Working in partnership with federal and industrial facilities, we match the aptitudes of academic scientists with scientific and technical needs of the facilities. These cooperative programs enrich the academic experience, enhance research and development capabilities of federal and industrial sectors, and insure a technical workforce with interests and skills essential to the missions of government and industry.

In 1997 ARM's nationwide programs enabled 2,500 faculty, students and recent graduates from more than 450 colleges and universities to participate at almost 60 placements sites. ARM is proving to be the effective interface among academia, government, and industry that was envisioned in our charter and will provide an even more powerful collaborative mechanism to effectively and economically forge a workforce for the 21st century.
